By accessing or using Legend’s services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use our services.

Legend is a self-hosted knowledge platform that helps organizations map and discover their institutional knowledge. The services we provide include:

• Self-hosted knowledge management software
• License management and activation services
• Documentation and support resources

To use certain features of our services, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information
• Keep your password and account credentials secure
• Accept responsibility for all activity under your account
• Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use

Running Legend requires a valid license. License terms include:

• The Community tier is free for personal and small team use
• Paid tiers require a monthly or annual subscription
• Licenses are non-transferable
• Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
• Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems
• Reverse engineer any part of the service except where the law permits it
• Use the service to store or transmit malicious code
• Harass, abuse, or harm other people

When you self-host Legend, you retain full ownership and control of your data. We do not access, monitor, or modify data stored on your servers. You are responsible for maintaining backups and for complying with the data protection laws that apply to you.

For paid subscriptions:

• Payments are processed by Stripe on our behalf
• Fees are exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise
• Refunds follow the terms of any money-back guarantee we offer at purchase
• Failed payments may result in suspension of paid features

We may suspend or terminate your access to the licensing portal and paid features if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or acted in a way that is harmful to other users, to us, or to third parties.

Because Legend is self-hosted, ending your subscription does not delete the data on your own servers. Your right to use the licensing portal and to receive updates ends when your subscription ends.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Legend will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill, arising from your access to or use of the service.

We may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the applicable laws of our operating jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law principles.
